Welfare officials seek names to curb food stamp abuse in Ohio counties
The Ohio Welfare Department says it needs specific names rather than complaints to investigate alleged food stamp misuse in Muskingum and Licking counties. Spokesman Dick Lightner said investigations will proceed at state and county levels if names are provided or permission given to use them. Industry presidents in Muskingum County allege some workers stay away to reduce salaries and qualify for stamps, but officials report no names were supplied. Lightner suggested presidents may not want the issue solved.
