EW trial asked in Sorrell case
A motion for a new trial was filed Monday in Common Pleas Court by Dorsey J. Sorrell's counsel. Sorrell, of Middletown, was found guilty Friday by a jury of manslaughter in the death of William Mayhen, also of Middletown. The motion claims the judge barred further cross examination of a state witness and ordered the witness from the stand, along with other asserted trial errors. The report notes 1947 U.S. steel ingot production at 84.7 million tons, near wartime peak.
