Ohio Crime Commission Seeks Permanent Status
The Ohio Crime Commission urged becoming a permanent state agency with authority to aid local law enforcement in cross county crime efforts. Atty Gen Saxbe noted Ohio lacks a state role beyond traffic enforcement and a permanent body could assist on multi jurisdiction crimes. If adopted, about $75,000 state share could unlock up to $750,000 from the U.S. Justice Department. The current temporary panel expires in September 1969 and baring changes it seeks a nine member body with grand jury like powers to subpoena and grant immunity.
