Informant Reveals Past as FBI-Linked Communist Member
Cleveland AP report details Mivin F. Hardin Jr. a 29 year old county workhouse guard who says he worked as an FBI informant for eight years after joining the Communist Party at the FBI’s request. His wife Virginia and Mrs Julia Brown also testified to informant roles before the House Un American Activities Committee. FBI Cleveland chief Edward Hargett confirmed Hardin’s account. Hardin spoke of his motive to protect colleagues and children from unjust treatment and noted party strength in Cleveland is unclear after a Supreme Court ruling requiring Communist registration.
