Kindergarten Expansion Studied in Springboro
SPRINGBORO The Clear heard a report from Al Voorhis creek school board took a close look at the kindergarten program and the addition to the high school here last night with an eye to building presently under construction or possible expansion. No action was taken and the board will continue to study the program. Superintendent Ray Perez said he is trying to accommodate all who have expressed an interest. The board is considering three sections per day with the same staff, a semester system with two classes per day for one group at a time on a half year program, and other possibilities. If we get hit by a storm of children there’s a possibility we may not be able to have it at all. The plan to revamp the bus transportation system to eliminate long waits for riders before and after school was also studied. Staggered starting times for elementary and high school schedules could occur. New rooms could be ready the first of next year, with a prior target date of Feb 15. Remodeling inside the old high school, including rest rooms, music facilities and heating system, should be completed before September. The board moved to permit Mrs. Hilda Watkins to attend a three day workshop at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. Miss Marilyn Ott, of Miamisburg and Wittenberg University, was hired as a second grade instructor. The Lions Club childrens committee was granted use of the school tennis courts for summer dances for students.
