Campus Riots Bill Moves to Joint Ohio Committee
A conference committee of three House and three Senate members handles the campus riots bill after House rejection of a Senate amendment. Rep. Barry Levey chairs the panel and favors the House version which allows summary suspensions pending hearings by the attorney general's office. The Senate plan would hold hearings before Board of Regents dismissal and is party line, while the House version has bipartisan support. Levey notes strong district and statewide interest and pressure from many groups to act.
