Regents oppose osteopath bill in Ohio University plan
Ohio's Board of Regents fights a House backed proposal to create the state's first osteopathic medical school at Ohio University in Athens. Regents Chairman Marvin Warner and Chancellor James A. Norton say the bill counters primary care needs and cites $793 million committed to six existing medical schools over the next decade. The Senate Finance Committee deferred action and may vote later this month on the measure which would also provide $670 000 to start the school.
