Ohio GOP Bets On 'Good Times'
Ohio Republicans push a larger two year budget as O'Neill and Skipton defend optimistic income estimates. Legislature authorized 1.916 billion in spending, boosted by highway and capital improvements and new aid programs, with concerns that increasing costs outpace projected revenue. Senate leader Bartunek warns the big budget may still be inadequate to cover state spending.

Trials Hurt South Africa says minister after US trip
The Rev. G. J. Swart of the Dutch Reformed Church says South Africa’s mass treason trials and Cabinet ministers’ rhetoric have made the country unpopular in the United States. He returned from a year in America on a Rockefeller grant noting American churches’ disappointment with the church apartheid clause in native laws amendment. Four other denominations oppose the measure. The government is conducting a mass treason trial of 156 Europeans Africans and Indians opposed to race segregation.
