National Political Round-Up GOP Fight In Mississippi Causes Three-Way Split
In Mississippi three delegations will attend the national convention with Taft Eisenhower and uninstructed but Eisenhower leaning factions. The Lily White group remains the state party's recognized faction while a largely Negro faction is also present. Maryland holds its convention with Ke fauver favored on first ballot though legal loopholes may allow shifts. Alabama vote outcomes tilt toward Russell or Kefauver depending on runoffs. Missouri reports unity as Eisenhower and Taft supporters divide delegates. Rhode Island Democratic delegation names 20 delegates with 12 uninstructed and half votes, reflecting a mixed setup ahead of Chicago.
