Tears of joy in Blue Ash memorial homecoming
Mrs Freeman Riddle of Blue Ash represented all area mothers of military men at Memorial Day 1971 ceremonies. Her two sons Dallas Riddle and Dennis Riddle returned home from Vietnam and Panama respectively, surprising her as dignitaries and Auxiliaries helped organize the reunion at a cost of 600 dollars. The event united the extended family for the first time in a decade and left Mrs Riddle speechless with happiness.

Sparse turnout for Cincinnati Memorial Day parade
In Cincinnati the Memorial Day parade drew about 150 marchers and 500 observers along a 15 block route. The Hamilton County Memorial Association cited lack of interest as the reason for the poor turnout. The parade lasted 30 minutes with more than 20 groups absent and only two officials present. Mayor Willis Gradison and Municipal Court Judge Donald S. Montfort attended. No music was played.
