Columbus report says unemployment benefit fraud convictions reached 201 in the first half of 1977. Investigators uncovered 766,679 in overpayments, with 439,887 recovered. Roger Dini of the Ohio Bureau notes increased federal funding, expanded training, and more investigators planned for the year.
Washington AP reports President Carter plans to include a greeting to any extraterrestrial civilization on the Voyager spacecraft. The package also carries bird songs jazz Chinese music Beethoven greetings in 60 languages and Earth artifacts. Launches are set for August 20 and September 1 with targets Jupiter Saturn and Uranus. The probes will drift through the galaxy for possibly hundreds of millions of years.
