Moon soil tests begin to check for bacteria

Apollo 11 scientists start testing a moon core sample for harmful bacteria using germ free mice and exposure in earth atmosphere. Researchers will also examine 15 pounds from one box and open a second box of about 37 pounds in a vacuum chamber while studying radiation and rock composition for clues to origin.

Lost B52 Crew Feared Dead in Vietnam Crash

A six man crew plus two aboard a B52 were declared missing after the bomber crashed and burned at Anderson Air Force Base on a takeoff toward Vietnam with a full load of bombs. In ground fighting, U S and South Vietnamese forces reported 105 enemy killed and 12 shellings overnight as the lull in action continued.
