Bids Due On 412 Million Sewer Bond Issue This Week

Bids for sale of mortgage revenue bonds totaling 412 million to finance sewer improvements are due noon tomorrow at the city engineer’s office and will be reviewed by the City Commission Wednesday night. The plan includes a 2 million general obligation bond issue. Earlier bids were rejected when rates rose, prompting a larger issue to attract better offers. The sewer project funds cover Ninth Avenue and Second Central districts and earlier bonds were issued in 1945. The plan now directs retirement of revenue and general bonds via the sewer service charge in effect since March 16.
