Drawing of Highview School Ready for voters in bond issue
A crayon drawing of the proposed Highview Road elementary school on display at First National Bank shows a 20-room, one-story brick building that can expand from the original 12 rooms. The plan includes a kindergarten and an all purpose room serving as cafeteria and gym. The project, part of a two and a half million dollar Middletown bond issue, also funds additions to Middletown High School, a new South School, a high school gym, and Barnitz Field stadium. Overcrowding in East End prompts the Highview proposal, with 266 students currently bused to Lincoln Sherman and Roosevelt Schools.
