Body of mercenary Daniel Gearhart returns home for funeral
The Gearhart family in Kensington Maryland plans private funeral services for Daniel Gearhart after his body arrived from Angola amid delays. Parishioners at Holy Redeemer Church paid the Angolan government $5,000 for the body’s return and $3,000 to aid the widow and four children. Gearhart, a 34 year old Vietnam veteran, left last February to raise funds for mortgage and medical bills now totaling about $30,000. His wife Sheila recounts his disappearance and vows to raise their children to honor his memory.
