Capt W G Hayes in an F102 intercepted the Cuban bound Electra and waggled wings to turn back at the three mile limit. The flight landed in Havana at 11 25 am as Yuri Gagarin arrived for the anniversary. Passengers and crew were held until ceremonies finished. The Electra was the second US airliner hijacked into Cuba. Earlier a National Airlines Convair pilot was forced to Cuba on May 1 after a Cuban passenger produced a weapon.
