Lawmakers OK fire safety measure for college campuses
The House Education and Workforce Committee approved an amendment to the College Access and Opportunity Act on a 35-13 vote requiring universities to report fire safety standards for campus buildings. It would require disclosure to students about fire sprinkler systems, escape plans, and safety protocols for owned and non owned buildings including fraternities and sororities. Miami University spokesman Richard Little voiced support for the measure. The amendment aims to curb off campus fire tragedies seen at Seton Hall, Maryland, Ohio State, and UNC Chapel Hill, citing Miami’s April Oxford house fire that killed three students. Boehner emphasized empowering students and owners with fire safety information and cited the university's off campus safety site and tips.

McDonald's stays at Cleveland Clinic amid menu changes
The Cleveland Clinic and McDonald's face a dispute over in-hospital service as a nine year lease remains. Cardiac surgeon and CEO Toby Cosgrove had questions about fast food in a heart hospital, prompting menu adjustments including no meat burgers and carrot sticks. McDonald's franchise owner Turan Strange says concerns are addressed and efforts to promote a balanced lifestyle continue.
