Pontiac prison riot leaves three guards dead

In Pontiac Illinois 1100 inmates rioted at the Pontiac Correctional Center injuring three guards severely and causing fires that gutted three buildings. State police and guards worked to lock down inmates with heavy protection as two other guards were wounded and a hostage escaped. Coroner notes indicated deaths by stab wounds rather than gunfire.

GM Ford to contest FTC car rental probe

General Motors and Ford Motor Co. said they would fight FTC charges alleging discriminatory payments to select car rental agencies. The agencies advertised use of GM or Ford cars, with the FTC noting such allowances must be offered to all competitors. Both firms argued the programs promote competition and are lawful.

Paternity suit names Mick Jagger

Los Angeles AP report says Marsha Hunt 31 filed a Superior Court paternity suit against Mick Jagger seeking a declaration of fatherhood and child support of 2200 dollars monthly. Hunt alleges she met Jagger in 1969 while touring with Hair and says his payments of 17 dollars weekly cover the child. Jagger was in town for a concert and unavailable for comment.
