A 28-year-old mother leaped from a Boston high rise with her 9-month-old daughter. Both died in the 17-floor fall before responders arrived. Police said the two bodies were found on a jutting seventh-floor area of the 40-story building where they lived as tenants. Names not released until relatives are notified.
In Miami a court sentenced Thomas Cloyd and Christopher Hughes to prison for operating an aircraft while drunk after a night of heavy drinking. Cloyd got five years, Hughes twenty years, despite prosecutors seeking shorter terms.
