Relief Sped Up Requested By Lamneck In Columbus

Columbus AP relief head John H. Lamneck asked authority to use the entire year’s ten thousand dollar relief fund as fast as needed. Frank Lausche forwarded the request to the State Controlling Board to learn in advance if second quarter funds could be released to offset first quarter deficits. The board normally releases twenty five hundred thousand dollars per quarter for local expenditures matching. Lamneck said July and August costs would total twelve hundred thousand dollars each for matching, leaving only a hundred thousand for September unless second quarter funds are tapped. The governor cautioned against exhausting this quarter’s resources and then needing an advance for September without the board’s position.
