US strike kills 14 in Fallujah in Iraq air raid

In Fallujah a US air strike authorized by Iraqi Prime Minister Iyad Allawi hit trenches and fighting positions used by al Qaida linked fighters, killing 14 as Iraqi officials said. The attack followed the Marines withdrawal and aims to assert sovereignty while relying on foreign troops.

Local Man Records Gospel Album T: Prayer and Song Highlight Kip Moore's Debut

Associated Press reports Middletown Journal notes local resident Kip Moore has recorded his first album a gospel collection. Dale Earnhardt Jr. is injured in a test crash as cars slam into the wall during a session. Partly cloudy with a high of 82 and a low of 63. Forecast on A2.

Recker’s Woodworking Firm Burns Before Fire Then Rebuilds

Gary Recker, 38, and his wife Mary Jo watched their four story 40 000 square foot workshop on Girard Avenue burn to the ground on February 22. The couple lost all equipment materials and even their 6 year old son Garrett’s tricycle but Recker resumed work at 1715 Reinartz Blvd guiding a Cherry door for Fenwick High School with two workers. A thermometer showed 91 degrees as he finished two doors and prepared to complete seven more. The last project before the fire was for Dick Smith’s River’s Bend home near Maineville including bookcases cabinetry and an entertainment center. Smith noted he received everything but a door.

Food pantries see surge of first-time clients in need

In Delanco, New Jersey, Catholic Charities food bank notes a rise in first-time clients as layoffs and high living costs push previously self sufficient families to seek help. National data show 11 percent of U.S. families are food insecure, with a 17 percent rise in demand at food banks in 2003, including Denver and Trenton.

Jumpers add glide to weekend Ohio balloon festival

Team Fastrax members Bob Akers and Dave Hart practiced free falls from about 3 500 feet with balloon pilot Jim Wannemacher for the Ohio Challenge Hot Air Balloon Festival. They plan multiple jumps using balloons planes and other airborne options across Friday to Sunday amid weather permitting. Admission is free with a $5 parking fee at Smith Park.
