PUCO Allows City Plant to Keep Gas Sludge Incineration
The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio reclassified Cincinnati's Oxford Road sludge plant as domestic to avoid gas curtailment. Without curtailment, the plant used 40,326 Mef in 1976 with projections to 64,400 Mef in 1977 and 76,500 Mef by 1985. The EPA requires sludge burning, and the city will study alternatives, including fuel oil, pulverized coal, and coke breeze, with ERDA funding sought for coal conversion.
