Guard Called In As Tension Eases In Groveland
In Groveland Florida the National Guard restored order after an armed mob tried to seize two Negro inmates from jail. The mob paraded past with non hooded Ku Klux Klan pamphlets tossed from about 20 cars. Sheriff W. V. McCall reported the inmates were moved to another jail prior to the disturbance and that shots were fired at a restaurant and a house in the Negro area.
