Franklin to get first new fire truck since 1947
The Franklin city council signed a contract with Bob Sutphen of the American Fire Apparatus Co. for a 1955 GMC fire truck costing 16,250.14 dollars. The vehicle features a 500 gallon tank, a 750 gallon per minute pump, three ladders, and a two way radio. The truck will replace the 20 year old Reo and delivery is set for this fall. A three mill tax levy is being considered to cover debt repayment and faster payoff of the truck.

A west wing will hold a nursery, kindergarten, primary and junior rooms, and a women's restroom, while an east wing adds an office, study, intermediate and senior rooms, kitchen, and a men's restroom.
