The Rev. James Holloman's remarks were quoted incorrectly by Monday's Journal. The minister said white people have set blacks against blacks to control them and urged blacks to stop dwelling on past wounds and claim their place in the sun. The Journal paraphrased the speakers’ comments.

The budget will go to the Butler County Budget Commission to set tax rates for the coming year.
A 14 month old girl named Tammy L. Gray died after being left in a bathtub with running water at her Cleveland home. Police said the child was in the care of her sister when the accident occurred.
Middletown resident Genevieve Davis treasures two letters from Lyndon Baines Johnson, one from the White House written by the president’s assistant. She wrote after Robert Kennedy’s assassination noting his fatigue and the strain on his leadership. Johnson thanked her for her confidence and affirmed a commitment to peace unity and justice. Davis later praised his improved appearance on TV and received a note from his executive assistant with a book titled The Choices We Face. She said her motive was love for him, not seeking anything, and that she felt he did not feel above her as a black woman sharing her problems.
Canton Ohio Fire destroyed the Gellesky Tire Co building in Plain Township causing an estimated 350000 to 400000 in damage. Owner Richard Gelesky reported the loss includes one story building three cars and stock.
In Washington, Senate leaders Mike Mansfield and Edward M. Kennedy urged prioritizing Earth's needs over a Mars mission. They backed delaying a manned Mars goal to focus on hunger, housing, poverty, and education while the Apollo program continues.
Salvation Army Bible Camp starts Monday at Fresh Air Camp on Rosedale Road for children six to 14. Reservations on first day. two buses will provide transport from Miltonville and Rolling Mill Park with stops en route. Camp runs 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with graduation Friday at 1 p.m.
