Widow killed in lawn mower accident near Walters

An elderly widow, Jennie Town, 71, was killed when a self propelled lawn mower tipped over on her along a county road in front of her home near Walters Minnesota. Faribault County officials reported the accident occurred Monday while she was operating the mower along a ditch.

Cattle Growers Lose Money Despite Lower Feed Costs

A Department of Agriculture analysis shows cattle feeding expenses fell in Q2 with a 1 050 pound steer cost around 477 in the Corn Belt, down from 537 in Q1. Feeder stock also declined but producers still faced losses, and figures reflect item costs only for the three months.

State workers in area report no work stoppage effects

State offices statewide showed no visible absenteeism or operational impact from walkouts.
