In Casablanca two days of violent unrest over a nationalist bombing killed 21 Europeans and Moroccans and injured 77. French troops and police prepared for funerals as Grandval imposed curfew and pledged a police shakeup amid rising tensions between European residents and Moroccan nationalists.
Secretary of the Air Force Talbott will address the Senate Investigations Subcommittee in private talks about his ties to the Paul B. Mulligan Co. The subcommittee weighs a broad probe. Talbott defends his dealings as proper and ethical. Kennedy declined comment after a Pentagon meeting. Mundt notes prior Armed Services hearing found no government business by Mulligan.
Wally Cox was fired from the Mr Peepers floor show at the Dunes Hotel in Las Vegas after three performances of a four week engagement. The hotel said it will announce a replacement and is negotiating to buy the contract. Cox said hotel officials refused him entry after declaring his appearance canceled.
At the request of the 142nd Infantry Regiment of Texas 36th National Guard Division an order was entered for the parade ground to be sprinkled at 4 p.m. Wednesday. The review was planned but a storm struck at 4 p.m. blowing down six tents injuring three men and soaking the grounds with rain.
Richard Long says Suzan Ball is serious but hopeful as she rests at City of Hope Medical Center in Duarte undergoing cancer diagnosis. Ball, 21, previously had her right leg amputated 18 months ago due to the disease.

The study will be conducted by the University of North Carolina education and sociology departments. Thurgood Marshall denounced the plan but accepted the court order wording.
Rain cooled parts of the nation easing heat as storms hit the Eastern states with Selingsgrove pa reporting over two inches and Utica ny above an inch. Pacific Northwest and Rockies saw scattered showers while Pendleton or Salt Lake City reached 80. Highs topped 100 in inland valleys and 116 at Blythe with Fraser Colo recording a 37 low.
Norris McPherson was held on narcotics charges after his wife Beulah McPherson testified in People's Court that he “mashes up and smokes in his pipe.” Judge Fanny Murphy ordered a sample suspect, later found to be marijuana by federal agents.
Cincinnati reports former city council member and state legislator Dr. Richard P. McClain, aged 65, placed on two years probation after pleading guilty to performing a criminal abortion in criminal court yesterday.
The Public Health Service released 440 000 more shots of Salk polio vaccine to support the free two shot program for first and second graders. The batch from Pitman Moore Co Laboratories, Zionsville, Indiana, will go to the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis. Since May 26 the Health Service has released 2 998 000 shots after revisions to testing and production, with prior availability around nine million.
Kenneth Jobe lost his left arm when it was torn off by a steam shovel extension tread as a flat bed trailer passed. He drove eight miles in shock before stopping and entering a store. Police found him after 40 minutes. he remained conscious and was treated for significant blood loss but was listed in satisfactory condition at Wayne County Hospital.
Cincinnati report says James R. Taylor aged 36 former assistant postmaster at Morrow Ohio received a 30 day prison term for embezzling 402 dollars by juggling COD records He pleaded guilty in U S district court to the charge.
U S District Judge John H Druffel upholds five year term for E Melvin Hupman who lied about not being a Communist. Hupman an officer in a Dayton local of the Independent Electrical Workers Union faced a $5000 fine. He swore on a Taft Hartley affidavit he was not a Red and began serving last month after a January fifteenth, 1954 conviction.
A fire at the Maurice L. Rothschild clothing store on State Street and Jackson Boulevard caused about one million dollars in damage to the 12 story building. Flames erupted on the top floor as smoke blanketed the Loop area with thousands watching as debris fell. No injuries were reported and officials had not yet determined a cause.
Ed Murrow and 14 others including his wife Janette and son Casey survived when a Northwest Orient Airlines DC3 struck a pole after an aborted landing in a thunderstorm. Pilot Capt. Jack Taylor lost braking in a 40 mph gust, the plane continued after the runway ended, skidding across a fence and hitting a utility pole. Murrow called the landing beautiful.
Zanesville Ohio report states Wilford J Singree 54 of McConnelsville Rt 3 was found in the Muskingum River about 11 miles south of Zanesville after his truck left Ohio 77. Police say he apparently drowned after escaping the wreck and falling into the river at the foot of an embankment.
President Eisenhower and Premier Bulganin arrived in Geneva with optimism that the summit will outline procedures and methods to ease Cold War tensions. British Prime Minister Eden and French Premier Faure joined the four leaders as the talks were set to begin, with an agenda focused on goodwill and possible paths to peace.

A stocky hotel maintenance man, Marion Gaillard, 20, was charged with homicide in the death of actress Adlyn Woodington 58 in the Hotel Chesterfield New York. Police say Gaillard beat the woman after she called him a dirty name and last saw her in the 17th floor corridor. Her body showed a neck belt, jaw fracture, and facial injuries with a possible scissors stab.
