Aeronca Labour Fight Spurs Threat of New Work Force
IAM Local 2535 rejected Aeronca's final offer by about three to one in a 246 to 95 vote, prompting company officials to warn of creating a new work force at the strikebound plant if workers do not return by July 19. The firm had offered 55 cents extra per hour over three years and benefits, while the union sought 75 cents plus fringe gains. The company noted the first year would effectively rise to 25 cents with the discontinuance of a special employee plan. Aeronca reported losses and modest earnings for 1975 tools and the current year.
