State school bus aid sliced as funds fall short
Ohio's 1959 60 bus aid is trimmed from 8 million to 6.725 million by the legislature, reducing the state share from 95 to 87 percent for low valued districts and from 40 to 32 percent for the wealthiest districts, with Holt noting 825 buses to be funded this year. The board also revokes five school charters, grants exemptions to 124 of 141 requests for minimum standards, and cites consolidation and parish-age pupil shortages as reasons for exemptions.
