Ohio students test wastes as new building materials
A nine member Ohio State University team under a $9 000 NSF grant experiments with converting waste paper strip mine waste furnace slag old glass and other castoffs into usable products. They will use crushers mixers grinders extruders driers and more to reduce pollution and spur new industries while lowering building costs with heavier concrete and insulation materials.

Miami Naval Science Officer Reassigned
Lt. Robert L. Brant of Miami University's Naval Science faculty since 1969 receives orders to transfer to the U S Naval Destroyer School at Newport Rhode Island for a six month course preparing an officer to head destroyer departments. Brant is a seven year Navy veteran who served on the Destroyer Douglas H Fox and in command.

Ohio Residency Rule Overruled By Judges
A three judge U S District Court panel in Cincinnati ruled Ohio residency for welfare aid unconstitutional. Otis Butler and Shirley Butler sued after denial of aid on Sept 17 1971. decision enjoins state and county agencies from enforcing residency rules.

24 indicted Lima State Hospital employees returned to work as charges were settled. Attorney General William Brown, absent at the Democratic National Convention, defended the plea deal citing punishment of mistreatment. Back pay totaled 140000 for 28 reinstated workers. 26 pled guilty to reduced charges. Four others to return soon.
