Waves of B52 bombers struck North Vietnamese positions inside the DMZ for the first time in two months. The aircraft carried 50 000 pounds of bombs and conducted three daytime raids on the northern half of the zone.
U S infantry search for 10 missing Americans after a battle near the Cambodian border where North Vietnamese forces overran a U S company. Lt Col Corey Wright praised his troops while reports show high weekly casualties for both sides. The incident followed broader U S and allied operations including B 52 raids and a ground sweep near Gio Linh.
