Ernest T. Weir, chairman of National Steel Corporation, announced the firm and its subsidiaries have dropped the basing point system for steel sales. Prices will be quoted at mills with freight or delivered prices upon request. The move follows U S Steel and a Supreme Court decision affecting basing point practices. National owns Weirton Steel, Great Lakes Steel, Hanna Furnace, and Hanna Iron Ore.
