Dog Saves Life Of Stranded Man At Camp Irwin
Ramon C. Miller, 53, a Fresno furniture buyer with an artificial leg, survived a week in searing Mojave Desert after his dog Gretchen defended him from coyotes and guided them to springs in a desert cave. Found by two ordnance inspectors at Camp Irwin, Miller and the dog were in good condition and expected to leave the hospital. Temperatures often exceed 120 degrees in the area.
