Ohio Bell announces 1967 Middletown Franklin directories are 20 pages thicker, featuring 92 white pages plus 16 prelims and new 1½ page yellow pages. Some 70 carriers begin delivering to about 51,500 homes and businesses with 19,000 changes since last issue.
A 50 year old man involved in a minor accident on Barbara Drive yesterday was in fair condition today at Middle Tons Hospital where he is held for observation. Russell G. Kinder of 924 Lambert Street was found unconscious in a Rink's parking lot and believed to be in a diabetic coma. Hospital spokesmen said Kinder suffered insulin shock. Police said Kinder's auto side swiped a car owned by James Whitaker of 3224 Barbara Drive in front of Whitaker's home. Damages were set at 75 dollars.
W. Wallace Smokey Stover of Columbus will install Middletown Civitan officers at the Tuesday noon meeting at Manchester Motor Inn. George C. Buckwald Kaiser Engineers is named club president with Randall Harrison as president-elect.
The Miami Valley Auxiliary emergency unit in Carlisle disbands after two months, with Chief Douglas Berger citing lack of cooperation. Berger says only one emergency run occurred since the unit moved from Chautauqua.
The Mid district planning commission will hold two public hearings tomorrow at 7 30 p m in City Building on the Woodridge Park residence development plan and a zone change request by John Ratcliffe for his Yankee Road and Baltimore Street service station from B 2 residential to B 1 neighborhood business. The Woodridge Park project near Blue Bay Elementary School would add a third apartment complex with 131 units on a 14 5 acre site plus recreational facilities and a community building, planned by Marvin Warner Corp of Cincinnati. two similar projects Arlington Arms and Old Townes have been built nearby. The commission will also set a date for a rehearing on the Ayershire subdivision map and final plotting.
Fire at 1600 block Vers ity Parkway caused 100 damage to Luther Leonard's car after a short in wiring. At 511 Moore St Jewell 33 of Fairfield fell from a porch and was taken to Middletown Hospital. Robin Wells addresses reported two car backfires with 25 and none damage. Irene Cox 33 at 2101 Tytus Ave had breathing difficulty and chest pains taken to hospital.
Warren County reports two more deaths over the weekend, bringing the year total close to 22. Seven year old Stephen Kilburn drowned in Turtle Creek after a car driven by his mother left the road. In a separate crash, 31 year old Osie Crase died of chest and head injuries after a head on collision on Ohio 63 near Monroe and Lebanon. Crase had been a trucker for the Miami Carey Division. services set for Campton Kentucky. Kilburn family members survive. funeral plans filed with local authorities and Oswald Funeral Home.
Two boys celebrating after passing Derby inspection crashed through a three-eighth inch glass door at Howe Motors on Verity Parkway. Gregory Parete 14 and David J McLaughlin 12 sustained injuries. McLaughlin remained hospitalized with facial and leg lacerations, Parete treated and released. Derby sponsored by Howe Motors and Optimist Clubs, set for Sunday at Jacot Park.
Sharon Elaine Phillian reigning Miss Ohio will marry John D. Blocher of Columbus on August 13. Her parents Harold I. and Mrs. Phillian of Delaware announce. She is a Miss America Pageant finalist and will surrender her Miss Ohio crown Saturday at Sandusky Pageant.
Two men drowned in Lake Erie Sunday near Cleveland. George Cranfield 22 of Cleveland fell from a small boat two miles off Edgewater Park. Bobby Joe Breckenrich 26 of Eastlake drowned after being swept from a rented boat about 100 yards off Fairport Harbor Shore.
The city plans to appoint an assessment equalization board to hear residents objections to paving from Breiel Boulevard to Central and Grand Avenues. City law director Tilmon Elikson will introduce the resolution at tonight's 8 o'clock City Commissioners meeting in City Building. Commissioner clerk Sylvia Hughes said objections have been received that assessments are too high and unequal.
Major Clarence M. Griffin has completed requirements for the M S degree in biochemistry at Pennsylvania State University. His thesis is Visualization of Macromolecular Structure in Electron Microscopy. He will join the U S Army Tropic Test Center as chief of the Munitions Branch Testing Division.
A Hamilton father, Andy Meadors, 21, was killed Saturday night while directing a crane at the YMCA addition on Broad Street. He died of head injuries after a cable snapped and a hoist struck him. Survived by wife Lillian and infant son, services set in Corbin, Kentucky.
A 26 year old French Canadian Jean H Ladrie was fined 200 dollars and given six months in the Cincinnati Workhouse by Justice Arthur J Fiehrer for second degree manslaughter in the June 4 crash on N Verity Parkway that killed Marilyn Slusser of 3228 Pennroyal Road Franklin. Ladrie pleaded guilty earlier to the charge connected with the traffic death while working as an electrician for Kaiser Engineers on Armco Project 600.
Fire officials announce hydrant tests through the week, warning residents of possible red water. Tests run east of Breiel Boulevard to city limits and south of Manchester Road to Central Avenue. Areas include Wildwood north of University Boulevard and east of the New York Central Railroad.
East End residents served by the Curryer Road water tower may water lawns again after painting of the tower. Public utilities director Robert W. Moschell said the sprinkling ban east of Highview and Dix Roads and north of Grand Avenue is lifted, first imposed in June during a dry spell while interior painting occurred.
A 22-year-old Camden woman was treated at Middletown Hospital for multiple lacerations and contusions after being picked up by two men in a car while walking on Route 4 between Liberty Fairfield and Greenlawn roads. Barbara Ruth Major of 141 S Liberty St reported she was beaten and dumped from the vehicle.
Dale Schubert a Trenton Village Clerk and former school board member died at Middletown Hospital at 7 40 p m after a coronary attack he suffered last week He was a production planner at Armco Steel and had served as village clerk since March He was active in the Trenton Swim Club Lions Club and Jefferson Lodge 90 F and AM He survived by his wife five daughters mother two sisters and a granddaughter Funeral services are set for 10 30 a m Wednesday at Riggs Funeral Home with burial at Butler County Memorial Masonic service Tuesday evening at the funeral home
