Middletown Rail Line May Be Spared for Conrail System
U S Rep Tom Kindness staff and Middletown Area Chamber officials report a forthcoming Railway Association study will include the three mile segment from Middletown to Monroe in Conrail. The line had been slated for abandonment, but hearings and subsequent planning documents highlighted local reliance on the rail service and its potential retention in the Northeastern Conrail plan. The final Conrail report remains under study with congressional action expected in 1976.
