More Study Ahead On Sewer Bond Sale

Middletown city officials and a committee of financial men met for two hours to discuss financing the major portion of the sewer improvement program. Chair Francis Carmody said no decision has been reached and further study is needed. E P Liska of Braun Bosworth Toledo noted the bond market appears slightly improved and no plan to raise sewer rents exists. The city must decide whether to proceed with the sale of bonds or wait for better conditions after a failed May bid when rates exceeded expectations. The issue was for 344 million with 3 million to follow. Carmody noted last fall’s protests and study delayed progress.
