Price Of Wheat Low Grain Quality Affects Warren Crop Outlook

Warren County faces a possible unrealized one billion dollar wheat crop due to low grain quality and prices. Elevators report ongoing harvesting across the county with many loads showing smut and rust while moisture averages around 14 percent. Local mills note variable quality among early loads and a county average yield of 25 to 30 bushels per acre as prices hover near 1.70. Hay harvest continues and corn prospects look strong with a bumper crop anticipated.
