Language sparks debate on English as official state policy
Continued from C1 community forum where leaders and residents discussed issues in the neighborhood including a rape case. Leaders argued English as official language could unite communities while critics warned about resource limits and practical access for immigrants. The measure cites wage gains for English speakers and widespread opposition in some Hispanic groups. Parallel obituary notices appear for James Emerson and Roland Gabbard with service details.
