A Buddhist monk named Vinitha of Vajiraramaya Ceylon plans to travel to Washington this month to set up a Buddhist cultural center. He says the aim is to promote Buddhist ideals of tolerance compassion and nonviolence, not to convert Americans. The Ceylon government will support the center initially with hopes it becomes self supporting. Vinitha exhibited a holy relic bone fragment during the interview.
