Seven people were killed and 30 injured when a twin engine Mohawk plunged after takeoff in a severe electrical storm near Rochester New York. The Martin 44 carried 4 passengers and 3 crew on a Newark bound flight via White Plains.
President Kennedy briefed the Cabinet on his 11 day trip covering Germany Ireland England and Italy. He highlighted Western Europe unity Atlantic solidarity and reception in Germany as proof of the trips value while noting Britain and Italy yielded limited concrete results.
