Legion Post 218 to vote on mail ballots amendment
American Legion Post 218 members will vote at a special meeting tonight on a constitutional amendment requiring all ballots for the 1953 election to be returned by mail. Commander Walter H. Spindler called the session after the executive committee decided to seek member approval of the change. Current rules require mailing or depositing ballots at Legion Home. The group says the change should reduce irregularities that voided the June votes and plans to mail ballots after ratification. Deadline for ballots is June 9. The post must notify the state department of new officers within 15 days of the Ohio convention in Cleveland July 24–26. The amendment needs two-thirds support. Candidates for commander: Roger Dillman, Ronald Lane, Temp Thorn.
