Interest Hike Aids City Bond Holdings
The city will gain about 2750 dollars annually from reinvesting sewer fund monies in U S Treasury notes, raising the rate from seven eighths to one and one eighth percent. City Attorney Fred Schatzmann said the change took effect yesterday after investing 1.1 million of the 1.5 million bond issue. The funds fund a sewer project voters approved in November 1945, but rising construction costs delay the program until costs stabilize.
