Carlton Trusty 41 of Oxford was offered the Gratis principal post by the Preble Shawnee school board in a special meeting last night. He currently leads Morgan Elementary in the Ross district near Hamilton and must decide this week whether to accept. Trusty, a 1962 Ohio University graduate, would sign a two year contract with a first year salary of 19162 plus 400 for extended day. He earned a master’s in education from Miami University in 1968 and has taught in Fairfield and Miami Trace districts. The board also revised the 1978 budget and announced a rescheduled July meeting, plus hired Vickie Young as primary learning disabilities teacher.

Crystal Tissue workers reject ninth union bid
For the ninth time in 26 years Crystal Tissue Co. employees rejected a bid by the United Paperworkers International Union to organize the local firm. Yesterday's vote was 138 to 101 with 58 percent voting against the union. All but 10 eligible employees voted. The union's last defeat at Crystal was in 1972.
