Voices of Dissent at Miami University Debate Freedom and Power

Two speakers clashed over economic liberty at Miami University's Voices of Dissent event. Indianapolis News editor Mind Theobald defended poverty as a driver of social anger, while British economist Robert Keobald argued for a guaranteed annual income and warned against government dependence. Evans contended federal controls threaten property rights and First Amendment freedoms, linking income guarantees to loss of contract leverage. The event, part of a series inviting extreme viewpoints, featured further talks by Richard Cloward, Ralph de Toledano, Jibson Winter, and Saul Alinsky.
