Pet owners in Middletown purchased 1 800 dog licenses, about 200 short of the anticipated sale. Carl Wedekind, deputy Butte County treasurer, said today the deadline for purchase of tags without penalty was last Friday. Licenses may be obtained at the tax office with a $1 penalty in addition to regular fees.
In Bedford Indiana an Air Force veteran with illness ended his life after killing his mother Mrs. Ira Brim 68 and his wife Mrs. Mary Burton Brim 21 and their two year old son Austin Eugene Brim. Coroner Roland Wynne labeled the killings murders and suicide.
Seventeen aliens including 16 war brides were admitted to U. S. citizenship in a Hamilton courtroom led by Judge Fred B. Cramer with Judge Simon Ross as speaker. The oldest naturalization class member was Mary McLean, 86, of Middletown, who had lived in the United States 59 years and was born in Scotland.
Eaton D. N. Duke announces his bid for the Republican nomination for Preble County commissioner at the May primary. Former commissioners Ed R. Clark and Duke are the two ex-officeholders entering the race alongside incumbent Will I. Thomas, with challengers Charles Buell and Carl Bechtel also in the field.
