Right Of Way For Road Cleared In Dixie Heights To Route 73

The final step in clearing a 60 foot wide roadway from Manchester Rd to Route 73 via Vannest Ave in Dixie Heights was completed yesterday. A 30 foot strip along Krieger Rd will be added, allowing widening to match Vannest Ave. The plan aims to form a throughfare to ease congestion on Central and adjacent streets, by linking Route 73 with Sutphin St through an interior east side route of the New York Central Railroad. Extending city water service and annexation efforts accompany the road project as four subdivisions seek Middletown city limits.
