Man moves to farm after suburbia pushes him out

Satellite debris search under way after Cosmos 954 reentry

A nuclear powered Cosmos 954 satellite disintegrated over eastern Great Slave Lake area triggering an international search led by a US-Canada pact. US U 2 reconnaissance Boeing 707 and two Canadian Hercules aircraft conduct the 30 mile wide search as experts from Nevada deploy radiation sensors. Official say destruction occurred in re entry and minimal danger remains though liability and cleanup rules are being discussed with the Soviet Union.

Armco Steel Corp announces a major reorganization to 11 operating divisions with D C Boone as executive vice president directing them and Gordon E Hughes as administrative vice president coordinating corporate functions. William Verity and Harry Holiday share chief executive duties to handle outside demands, effective Feb 1.

Colder air arrives as rain ends with snow flurries

A cold front moves into the Middletown area bringing an end to rain and sprinkling snow flurries through Thursday as winds increase. Temperatures drop from near 30 to the teens by tomorrow evening, with a morning low around 33 and a high of 36 yesterday. The extended outlook predicts very cold temps and a snow chance through Sunday with lows from zero to 10 above and highs in the teens to low 20s.
