Fire destroys Sizemore home after gas bottle explosion
A bottle gas explosion outside the Sizemore dwelling ignited an oil heater and swept flames through the frame house. Mayfield firefighters arrived eight minutes after the alarm but the roof collapsed and walls fell in as firemen poured 300 gallons of water. Two residents were treated for burn injuries and two families found refuge with neighbors. Losses were estimated between 1500 and 10000 dollars. The Monroe unit faced vehicle breakdown delaying response. A separate January 26 fire at 3012 Navaho Street left two more families homeless.
