Powell to Step Down as FCC Chair in March
FCC chair Michael Powell announces he will resign in March after a four year tenure. He led a pro business, stricter indecency policy era and promoted high speed Internet and digital TV while clashing with Democrats on the commission. White House praised his push for affordable broadband. Powell’s departure follows a landmark indecency crackdown sparked by Janet Jackson’s Super Bowl incident.
