At Cape Kennedy NASA readies an 18 story Saturn 1 rocket for the unmanned Apollo 5 mission to Earth orbit. The test aims to validate the lunar landing vehicle as authorities recall the Apollo 1 fire that killed three astronauts during a ground test last year.

Pentagon reports a plane crash in North Star Bay Greenland at 3:40 p.m. EST on Sunday while attempting an emergency landing seven miles southwest of the Thule runway. Five survivors parachuted from the craft assigned to the 389th Bomb Wing at Plattsburgh AFB New York. An Air Force investigation team was dispatched from Strategic Air Command to Thule. No civilian property was damaged. Further details were unavailable mid morning.

A Franklin County couple, Bernard Indebeisen 37 and Patricia 37, were found wounded in their east of Westerville home. Bernard was shot twice and in critical condition at St. Anthony's Hospital. Patricia had a chest wound and was stable. Their 16-year-old son Richard was taken to the county juvenile center for safe keeping as authorities investigate.
